LGBTQIA+ & CHRISTIAN FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions for People Who Question Whether People Can be LGBTQIA+ and Christian
1. DOES GOD HATE ME? DOES GOD STILL LOVE ME EVEN THOUGH I'M LGBTQ+?
It is impossible for God to hate ANYONE because God Himself is Love. God loves absolutely EVERYONE and that can be proven within the Word of God.
'For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above nor the world below—there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.' Romans 8:38-39
'and I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts through faith. I pray that you may have your roots and foundation in love, so that you, together with all God's people, may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep, is Christ's love. '
Ephesians 3:17-18
2. CAN LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE BE SAVED? CAN LGBTQ+ PEOPLE GET INTO HEAVEN?
Absolutely EVERYONE can be saved and get into heaven. Since God loves absolutely everyone, He has also given everyone a chance to get into heaven, no matter who they are or by what they do.
'If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved. The scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.” This includes everyone, because there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles; God is the same Lord of all and richly blesses all who call to him. As the scripture says, “Everyone who calls out to the Lord for help will be saved.” '
Romans 10:9-13
'For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it. For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it. '
Ephesians 2:8-9
'His choice is based on his grace, not on what they have done. For if God's choice were based on what people do, then his grace would not be real grace. '
Romans 11:6
3. DID GOD MAKE ME THIS WAY? DOES GOD WANT ME TO CHANGE?
God did create you to be LGBTQ+, and no He does not want you to change yourself in order to be something that you are not. The only changes that God wants us to make are the changes that cause us to be more like Jesus.
' Does a clay pot dare argue with its maker, a pot that is like all the others? Does the clay ask the potter what he is doing? Does the pot complain that its maker has no skill? Do we dare say to our parents, “Why did you make me like this?” The Lord , the holy God of Israel, the one who shapes the future, says: “You have no right to question me about my children or to tell me what I ought to do! '
Isaiah 45:9-11
'God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do. '
Ephesians 2:10
'Each of you should go on living according to the Lord's gift to you, and as you were when God called you. This is the rule I teach in all the churches. If a circumcised man has accepted God's call, he should not try to remove the marks of circumcision; if an uncircumcised man has accepted God's call, he should not get circumcised. For whether or not a man is circumcised means nothing; what matters is to obey God's commandments. Each of you should remain as you were when you accepted God's call. Were you a slave when God called you? Well, never mind; but if you have a chance to become free, use it. For a slave who has been called by the Lord is the Lord's free person; in the same way a free person who has been called by Christ is his slave. God bought you for a price; so do not become slaves of people. My friends, each of you should remain in fellowship with God in the same condition that you were when you were called. '
1 Corinthians 7:17-24
4. DOES GOD ACCEPT LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE? DOES GOD BELIEVE LOVE IS LOVE?
God absolutely does accept LGBTQIA+ people! I mean He created them after all. God is Love Himself so of course He believes that Love is Love. However, we first prove this with using the famous passage in Mathew that people love to use to discriminate against gay couples. Directly underneath the passage that says that marriage is between a man and a woman, Jesus Himself says that this teaching doesn't apply to everyone.
'Jesus answered, “This teaching does not apply to everyone, but only to those to whom God has given it. For there are different reasons why men cannot marry: some, because they were born that way; others, because men made them that way; and others do not marry for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Let him who can accept this teaching do so.” '
Matthew 19:11-12
This can also be seen through many scriptures that talk about how God loves people who have been rejected and outcasted for being who they are. The LGBTQ+ community is notoriously outcasted and rejected by almost every church and these verses show that God still loves and accepts this community.
' Surely you have read this scripture? ‘The stone which the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the most important of all. This was done by the Lord; what a wonderful sight it is!’” '
Mark 12:10-11
'Jesus heard them and answered, “People who are well do not need a doctor, but only those who are sick. I have not come to call respectable people, but outcasts.” '
Mark 2:17
The Bible also shows that God accepts the LGBTQIA+ community just in the way it describes love and the way it should be shown to others. God wants our love to be authentic and sincere to one another. He wants us to have a desire to love others. He doesn't want us to force ourselves to enter relationships with people that we don't truly love; and that is shown in many scriptures down below.
'Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. '
1 John 4:7
'Love must be completely sincere. Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. '
Romans 12:9
'Be under obligation to no one—the only obligation you have is to love one another. Whoever does this has obeyed the Law. The commandments, “Do not commit adultery; do not commit murder; do not steal; do not desire what belongs to someone else”—all these, and any others besides, are summed up in the one command, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” If you love others, you will never do them wrong; to love, then, is to obey the whole Law. '
Romans 13:8-10
'I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. '
1 Corinthians 13:1
'My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action. '
1 John 3:18
5. DOES GOD CARE ABOUT THE MARGINALIZED?
Yes! He very well does! and Here are the scriptures to prove it.
Mark 2:17
'What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.'
James 1:27
'“The kind of fasting I want is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives. “Then my favor will shine on you like the morning sun, and your wounds will be quickly healed. I will always be with you to save you; my presence will protect you on every side. When you pray, I will answer you. When you call to me, I will respond. “If you put an end to oppression, to every gesture of contempt, and to every evil word; if you give food to the hungry and satisfy those who are in need, then the darkness around you will turn to the brightness of noon. And I will always guide you and satisfy you with good things. I will keep you strong and well. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never goes dry. Your people will rebuild what has long been in ruins, building again on the old foundations. You will be known as the people who rebuilt the walls, who restored the ruined houses.” '
Isaiah 58:6-12
6. DOES GOD BELIEVE IN EQUALITY?
Yes He does. He believes in equal and fair treatment for all of His children.
'So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free people, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.'
Galatians 3:28-29
God Even advocated for women's rights in the Old Testament and allowed women to receive an inheritance when the previous law didn't allow it. And not only did He allow it for them, He also changed the law for ALL WOMEN.
'Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah were the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, son of Joseph. They went and stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the whole community at the entrance of the Tent of the Lord 's presence and said, “Our father died in the wilderness without leaving any sons. He was not among the followers of Korah, who rebelled against the Lord ; he died because of his own sin. Just because he had no sons, why should our father's name disappear from Israel? Give us property among our father's relatives.” Moses presented their case to the Lord , “What the daughters of Zelophehad request is right; give them property among their father's relatives. Let his inheritance pass on to them. Tell the people of Israel that whenever a man dies without leaving a son, his daughter is to inherit his property. If he has no daughter, his brothers are to inherit it. If he has no brothers, his father's brothers are to inherit it. If he has no brothers or uncles, then his nearest relative is to inherit it and hold it as his own property. The people of Israel are to observe this as a legal requirement, just as I, the Lord , have commanded you.” and the Lord said to him, '
Numbers 27:1-11
7. IF THIS IS TRUE, DID GOD EVER SPEAK OUT AGAINST FALSE TEACHINGS?
He sure did girll! It was also one of the reasons he was crucified. The girls were not here for being called out in front of the whole church, so they plotted to kill Him with a swiftness.
'So the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law asked Jesus, “Why is it that your disciples do not follow the teaching handed down by our ancestors, but instead eat with ritually unclean hands?” Jesus answered them, “How right Isaiah was when he prophesied about you! You are hypocrites, just as he wrote: ‘These people, says God, honor me with their words, but their heart is really far away from me. It is no use for them to worship me, because they teach human rules as though they were my laws!’ “You put aside God's command and obey human teachings.” And Jesus continued, “You have a clever way of rejecting God's law in order to uphold your own teaching. For Moses commanded, ‘Respect your father and your mother,’ and, ‘If you curse your father or your mother, you are to be put to death.’ But you teach that if people have something they could use to help their father or mother, but say, ‘This is Corban’ (which means, it belongs to God), they are excused from helping their father or mother. In this way the teaching you pass on to others cancels out the word of God. And there are many other things like this that you do.” ' Mark 7:5-13
'As he taught them, he said, “Watch out for the teachers of the Law, who like to walk around in their long robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplace, who choose the reserved seats in the synagogues and the best places at feasts. They take advantage of widows and rob them of their homes, and then make a show of saying long prayers. Their punishment will be all the worse!” '
Mark 12:38-40
8. HOW CAN I BELIEVE THIS? HOW DO I REALLY KNOW THAT GOD LOVES ME AND WANTS ME TO LOVE MYSELF FOR BEING LGBTQIA+?
The bible says that you can tell who is a false prophet by the fruits that they bare. Would the Devil tell you to love yourself? Would the Devil tell you to accept yourself and that God still loves you? Would the Devil tell you that EVERYONE gets the chance to go to heaven and be with God for eternity? God loves you; He has and always will. He wants you to be with Him, He desperately wants you back. Just take a chance and believe. Plus you don't have to take my word for it. Just pray and ask God for yourself. Ask Him how He sees you. Ask Him if He wants you to change. I can assure you that the answer will be no.
'“Be on your guard against false prophets; they come to you looking like sheep on the outside, but on the inside they are really like wild wolves. You will know them by what they do. Thorn bushes do not bear grapes, and briers do not bear figs. A healthy tree bears good fruit, but a poor tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a poor tree cannot bear good fruit. And any tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire. So then, you will know the false prophets by what they do. '
Matthew 7:15-20
'Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. '
1 John 4:7
There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear. So then, love has not been made perfect in anyone who is afraid, because fear has to do with punishment. '
1 John 4:18
